The Deacons went to the Hieroglyphics Trail.

Bowling

The priests and laurels headed down to the campus of ASU to show off their bowling skills. They bowled one normal game and then bowled a game of M&M bowling. Rules for M&M bowling: Before each person bowls they draw an M&M and depending on the color, it tells them how they have to bowl that frame....opposite hand, eyes closed, sitting down, granny bowl, trick shots, and if you were lucky normal bowl. It was a lot of fun, and how could it not be...pizza and bowling always make for a good night.

Leadership Training

The youth leaders got together to be trained by the Bishopric. They went out to a local farm/barn where the youth played leadership games and had challenges on how to work together and overcome obstacles. They did really well and learned how to apply that to real life and how to improve on their leadership. They had prime rib catered in for dinner and dutch oven dessert. It was a great afternoon evening and want to thank the Bishopric for a wonderful experience.

Court of Honor

The Court of Honor was more like an evening of recognition. Jamie D. picked up the awards last week. Unfortunately he accidentally left the awards on the hood of his car when he drove away from the scout shop.

Each patrol performed a skit and they were hilarious. Congratulations scouts! Click here for more photos of the Court of Honor.

Compass Course

The 11 year olds went into the desert East of our neighborhood. They did a one mile orienteering course with their compasses. Chaz brought extra shade with his super sweet hat!

"The Calebs" (Caleb H and Caleb P) learned how to orient a compass to find waypoints on the course. Mikael is sighting the next waypoint with his telescope.


On the course Mikael and Devondre came across loads of spent ammo shells. They collected them and practiced the outdoor code by picking up litter.

Eagle Project

Skyler B. is working on his Eagle Project. He is making activity kits for the cancer kids at Banner Desert Hospital.

He is including a CD of himself playing his guitar. The kits will have all kinds of activities, books, games, and toys to brighten their days while in the hospital.

Skyler is putting the kits together this Saturday with his extended family. He will present the kits to the hospital sometime next month.

Longboards

The Priests made long boards. The last picture is the press used to bend the plywood. They started putting the boards in the press on the 14th of February and each board needed to be in the press for 24 hours. Every night a boy would come over to place their board in the press. On the 21st they went to Fred C's uncle’s shop to cut out the designs. During Spring break they took the boards to Ironwood crossing and tested them out in a park there.

First Water

Special thanks to Mikael's dad, RJ, for coming along on the campout.

The scouts had fun splashing each other with water as they hiked along the creek. The weather was perfect. Jared took Andy's picture while he sucked in his gut and Chaz laughed. Chaz climbed the the windmill after discovering a geocache tied to it.

Court of Honor

The 11 Year Olds performed the flag ceremony. The skits were hilarious and awards were presented.

Airplane Flats

Camping at Airplane Flats. The temperature was down to 15 degrees at night. RJ gave an awesome astronomy lesson Friday night. The scouts made an excellent pancake breakfast all by themselves and gave the leaders breakfast in bed. Special thanks to the following dads who came along on the campout, RJ H. and Daryl P. It was Daryl's birthday. Andy made Daryl a spacial birthday treat... a fried banana. The scouts toured the Fish Hatchery.

Eagle Project

Mark S. completed his Eagle Project on November 10th 2010. He was collecting toys for children that would be staying in the emergency room of Banner Ironwood Hospital.

Four Peaks

The Priest went to four peaks. Vance, Lance, Aaron and Braden.

Swimming Merit Badge

The swimming merit badge was at Sean's house. The water was cold but most of the boys stuck it out.
